In the office to work or at home.
I’m surprised to find how many people are actually relishing “staying at home” to work on an almost permanent basis! For me work life and business are about teamwork and collaboration.
I suppose it might work for some solitary sole traders, but surely you want to get out and meet real people in the real world and have interesting conversations and I don’t think that really happens online where you are just another digital avatar?
Being with my colleagues really matters to me. I can learn from them and the more junior ones can learn from me and their peers. That doesn’t happen if you’re not together.
I love to hear their conversations and their enthusiasm in the office and If I can help them avoid mistakes, I’ve made in the past and be even more successful, then that pleases me greatly.
That means I have to make sure I’ve done everything I need to do. Nothing left to chance, nothing hanging around for my colleagues to pick up. They’ve got enough work on their plates already.
We are all accountable to each other and that includes me. If I want that team ethos, I have to hold myself to the same standard. I would expect nothing less.
That for me is the #openhonesttransparent way to be and is the core element of leadership in any environment.
